Ingredients

- 2 cups dried split peas
- 8 cups water
- 1 ham bone
- 1 large onion
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 tbsp celery leaves
- 1/2 cup diced carrots
- salt and pepper to taste

Preparation
|
- Cook peas, ham bone, onion, and pepper in water for 2 hours or until ham falls from the bone.
- Remove bone and ham from soup.
- Dice ham.
- Run peas through a sieve for smoother soup.
- Add diced ham, celery, celery leaves, and carrots to soup.
- Simmer for another 3 hours or until veggies are done.
- Thin soup with milk or water, if desired.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve and enjoy!
