Ingredients
  • 2 cups dried split peas
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 ham bone
  • 1 large onion
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1 tbsp celery leaves
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots
  • salt and pepper to taste

Preparation
  1. Cook peas, ham bone, onion, and pepper in water for 2 hours or until ham falls from the bone.
  2. Remove bone and ham from soup.
  3. Dice ham.
  4. Run peas through a sieve for smoother soup.
  5. Add diced ham, celery, celery leaves, and carrots to soup.
  6. Simmer for another 3 hours or until veggies are done.
  7. Thin soup with milk or water, if desired.
  8. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
