We had many delicious ideas to make a great smoothie:
Linda in Phoenix:
Use Ice, orange juice as a base, 1 cup frozen fruit (she likes the bag of mixed fruit at Costco), 1/2 cup yogurt,1/2 banana and Madagascar Vanilla. If she is feeling like it she adds a splash of lime juice or maybe even a bit of ginger ale or sparkling water.
MaryAnne in Scottsdale makes her famous
Grandma’s Smoothie 4 kids: see recipes (beverages)
It is always a hit with the grandchildren.
TIP: Save lots of money if you make them out home.
Janet in Scottsdale loves to freeze grapes and she snacks on them frozen. Kim add them to drinks to keep them cold and nibble on them when the drink is done. Janet makes a smoothie using protein powder, Greek yogurt and non fat milk with frozen berries, peaches, splenda and those wonderful baby bananas.
Kathy in Rio Verde loves making smoothies in the winter. In the summer she enjoys the fruit just whole. She loves to take advantage of the sales on fruit in season and freezes it for the winter months. She just adds it to a bag in her freezer. A bang against the counter will break it up when you want to use it. She loves her Vita Mix Blender she has had for years and says she will have to will it to her offspring because it will never die. She loves pineapple and in season always has many around. She even freezes watermelon and melons for her smoothies. She has a few rules. NEVER ADD WATER OR ICE – Start out with a pineapple or orange juice, to sweeten if necessary use honey, add your frozen fruit and soy milk or regular milk.
Steve in Scottsdale had some great ideas. He uses Pineapple and juice with frozen Mango and banana and he uses– coconut milk. On the weekends: a shot of tequila is always fun.
MaryAnne in Tempe has a unique drink she serves company. She takes strawberries, a hanful of raspberries, orange juice, heavy cream, mint and crushed ice. For those who want alchohol she add an orange liquor.
Marge in Scottsdale uses peppermint tea with protein powder then she adds frozen mango and frozen banana.
Janet in Mesa went in another direction and loves to make a decadent drink with the caffeine free, diet Manhattan Special Espresso Coffee that she got at Pop the Soda Shop. She adds heavy cream then tops it with whipped cream.

Interesting, thanks for that. My son has a terrible aversion to eating fruit for some reason, so I made it into smoothies for him and then he can’t get enough of it! I also found some great smoothie recipes here and thought I’d share – lots of other great ideas there.
