Listeners' questions posed to Kim and Don on Culinary Confessions on KXAM 1310 AM Phoenix

Thanks to everyone who called in with answers to our survey question. Here's what everyone had to say:

Best Holiday Party Thing This Year:

    • Debra in Fountain Hills - chicken with mushrooms (catered) for their office party
    • Karen in Mesa - she had a Hannukah-Christmas party and served potato latkes and ham
    • Janet in Mesa - discovered Townhouse "Flips" with pretzel on one side and crackers on the other
    • Kathy in Phoenix - tamales
    • Susan in Scottsdale - wonderful gluten-free food from Thee Pitts Again for the Celiac Society, even a bread pudding!

Kathy in Rio Verde's Pumpkin Crumb Cake Recipe:

    • Blend together a 29 oz can of pumpkin pie filling with 4 eggs, 1 can of condensed milk, 1-1/2 cups sugar, 2 tsp cinnamon, and 1/2 tsp vanilla
    • Pour into a 9" x 12" pan
    • Top with a mixture of yellow cake mix and 1 cup chopped nuts blended with 1/2 pound of melted butter (will be crumbly mixture)
    • Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes

Claire in Scottsdale called about Acacia Cafe. It was lovely.  The "Rubenesque" atmosphere was wonderful.  The veggie panini was delicious.

Don in Mesa called about Red, White & Brew. The fresh baramundi fish served Mediterranean style was excellent. The rib eye was wonderful, as was the baked brie crusted with pecans and drizzled with raspberry sauce. The cream brulee is a must-try!

Paula in Mesa called about Carrabas Italian Grill. She loved the salmon.  She doesn't know what they did to it, but it was spectacular!

We'd also like to congratulate everyone who won a prize in our daily contests, and thank everyone who phoned in and gave it a try. Here's what they won:

  • Trivia - Les in Phoenix won a gift certificate for Little Rangoon
  • Trivia - Paula in Mesa won a gift certificate for Pop the Soda Shop
  • Trivia - Bruce in Scottsdale won a gift certificate for George & Son's
  • Recipe of the Day - Dan in Scottsdale (fruitcake) won a 5-pound bag of King Arthur Flour and $20 toward anything in their catalogue
