Day 4 Tokyo

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

This was my last day.  I had to head to the airport at 1:00 PM.  We had one more place we wanted to go to which was the Miracle Berry Cafe.  I had heard about it on a show called Beyond Tomorrow.  They feature a berry that when you suck on it for 3 minutes it turns everything sour that your eat sweet.  We wanted to try it.  It was in Namja Town in Sunshine City.  Namja Town is an childs amusement park in a major building complex.  You have to pay admission to get to the Miracle Berry Cafe.  We had heard that the curry was good, so we started with that, it was just OK.  We then ordered the Miracle Berry.  It came with a timer, we were instructed to suck on the berry for 3 minutes then enjoy the platter of cut fruit on our plate. Lemons, grapefruits, which my son does not like and berries.

Day 3 Tokyo

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

This day started again with a trip to the 7 Eleven in our Building in the Cerulean Towers in Shibuya.  We got our coffee in the can and bought a few unique items.  I had the fruit salad yogurt with grapes in it.  Pretty good and a hard boiled egg that they sell at all the convenience stores.

I woke up to this beautiful view on Sunday morning.

I thought since I would have no time with my son to do sightseeing since we will be on a food mission, so I went to the concierge at the hotel to see what they had. She was amazing. I asked if there was a market and she sent me in the direction of a flee market in Yoyogi park. She assured me it was only 1 subway stop away. She said, it will be an adventure.

The tastes of Tokyo

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

As you know by now, I had the adventure of a lifetime. I was invited to join my son who does business often in Tokyo to join him for a few days and celebrate my Birthday. Who could resist.
After a long flight I arrived at Narita Airport 80 minutes away from Tokyo, so don’t plan on a cab if you value money, it will cost you over $300.00 US. We made that mistake 10 years ago when we first went to Japan. I took the Bus limo. You get a ticket at baggage. My son said the subway was easy, but I was not up to it after not sleeping for many hours. The bus limo was great. The big challenge was that my son & I had a communication problem, he thought I was coming in the day after. He was up by Mt. Fuji, 3 hours out of Tokyo and had business there the next day. This was Saturday night Tokyo time, 3:30 AM Phoenix time. It was no time for me to start making plans for my adventure in Tokyo the next day. I went off to my fantastic hotel and went to bed. I stayed at the Cerulean Towers in Shibuya. Great location and the views amazing. It was pricey but worth every penny. Here is the view.
